This book was originally Willy Claure´s  thesis project in order to obtain his Anthropology degree.

It clearly and synthetically gives a historical overview of The Cueca in general terms and  mainly describes its sociocultural role in the Punata Valley province of Cochabamba-Bolivia.

La Cueca is a danceable loose musical genre that usually depicts the ritual of courtship of flirting and conquest.  The book shows that in wedding celebrations in the Punata Valley the role of the cueca dance is not exclusive and precisely that of courtship.
